Shopping or Buying

January 28, 2012

My wife and I do 2 entirely different things in stores. She loves to go shopping. I like to buy. These might sound like very similar things but actually they aren’t.

Shopping consists of looking for something to buy. Shopping trips can consist of looking for hours before you find that 1 thing you’ve been looking for all day. It also can consist of trying on 10 outfits or studying certain products for a long amount of time before deciding to buy it or not. Shopping can be a very tiring thing.

Now buying is different from shopping by about 3 hours. When I go into a store I go for a specific reason. I walk directly to whatever section I am looking for with unwavering determination, pick up the item I need and turn and run towards the register to make sure there are no needless distractions.

This is one of many of the wonderful differences between men and women. Without shopping most stores would fold from the lack of purchases but without buyers, well the world as we know it might cease to exist.
